Lasst euch nicht verunsichern: Nur weil die Nebenaufgaben in der Welt von Midgard als "Gefallen" bezeichnet werden, sind sie letztlich doch nichts anderes als gewöhnliche Side-Quests. Diese werden euch allerdings nicht gerade ins Gesicht gedrückt, vielmehr das Gegenteil ist der Fall - ihr müsst schon Augen und Ohren offenhalten, um die jeweiligen Questgeber überhaupt zu finden.

Das hier ist nicht das, was man sich für gewöhnlich unter einer Rückkehr vorstellt. Der erste und wichtigste Tipp lautet deshalb: Vergesst am besten (fast) alles, was ihr über God of War zu wissen glaubtet.
- Ruft eure Axt mit Dreieck zurück
Gerade während der ersten Spielstunden kein ungewöhnliches Problem: Entgegen eurer Erwartung kehrt die Leviathanaxt nicht nach einem ausgeführten Wurf automatisch in Kratos' Pranken zurück. Stattdessen müsst ihr sie mit einem Druck auf Dreieck aktiv dazu veranlassen. Tut ihr das nicht, könnt ihr zwar mit bloßen Fäuste kämpfen (was den Betäubungsbalken der Feinde füllt), richtet dadurch aber erheblich weniger Schaden an. - Zerstört umherstehenden Krempel wie Holzkisten und Krüge
Da sich die auch die Gesundheit des gealterten Kratos nicht wie bei vielen seiner Kollegen von selbst wiederherstellt, kommt ihr nicht umhin, regelmäßig nach grünen Heilkristallen zu suchen. Häufig hinterlassen besiegte Gegner die nützlichen kleinen Steine, doch jede Menge davon findet ihr auch im überall herumstehenden Gerümpel. - Werft die Leviathanaxt auf die Schwachstellen der Gegner
Nahezu jeder Gegnertyp hat einen besonders empfindlichen Punkt (häufig der Kopf, aber nicht nur). Habt ihr diesen erst einmal ausgemacht, solltet ihr die entsprechenden Schwachstelle gezielt mit Angriffen und Axtwürfen belegen. - Füllt den Betäubungsbalken der Gegner
Zu Beginn des Spiels scheint dieser Balken unterhalb der Gesundheitsleiste eurer Feinde wenig mehr als eine nette Spielerei zu sein, doch gerade im späteren Spielverlauf spielt euch dieses neue Feature sehr in die Karten. Füllt den Balken mit Atreus' Bogenschüssen sowie Angriffen ohne ausgerüstete Axt (ihr könnt sie mit Steuerkreuz rechts wegstecken) und drückt R3, sobald er gefüllt ist, um ein Finsisher-ähnliches Manöver vom Stapel zu lassen. Der schickt eure Feinde entweder direkt in die Hölle oder fügt ihnen zumindest erheblichen Schaden zu. - Werft Gegner an Klippen und Abhängen herunter
Selbsterklärend: Schmeißt ihr einen Feind in die Tiefe, ist er augenblicklich besiegt - selbst wenn er noch nahezu volle Gesundheit hatte. Ein für dieses Vorgehen besonders praktischer Angriff ist Kratos' Fußtritt, den ihr ausführt, indem ihr ohne ausgerüstete Axt die R2-Taste drückt. - Verkauft alte und nicht mehr benötigte Ausrüstung in den Broks und Sindris Läden
Egal ob Hacksilber oder Aegis Gold: Keine der beiden Spielwährungen wird euch hinterhergeworfen. Gerade im späteren Spielverlauf solltet ihr eure Moneten tunlichst zusammenhalten, um euch die dringend benötigten Verbesserungen eurer Ausrüstung leisten zu können, deren Kosten schnell exorbitant hoch werden. Da ihr im Laufe der Zeit aber auch viel unnützen Krempel ansammelt, solltet ihr den tunlichst in den zahlreichen Läden verkaufen - mit der Zeit kommt auf diese Weise ein sehr üppiger Nebenverdienst zustande, auf den ihr nicht verzichten wollt. - Achtet auf gelbe Markierungen, wenn ihr nicht wisst, wo es weitergeht
Die technische Opulenz des Spiels kommt gelegentlich mit einem Haken daher: Zwischen all der Pracht kann es bisweilen schwierig sein, zu erkennen, mit welchen Objekten ihr interagieren könnt. Ist diese Lücke eine, über die Kratos springen kann? An welcher Wand kann man sich hinaufziehen? Die Entwickler waren sich dieses Problems durchaus bewusst und nutzen über die gesamte Spieldauer hinweg subtile visuelle Hinweise, um euch wissen zu lassen, worauf ihr eure Aufmerksamkeit konzentrieren solltet. Genauer: Gelbe Linien und Markierungen sind an all jenen Oberflächen angebracht, mit denen ihr interagieren könnt. Haltet also stets die Augen nach ihnen offen, solltet ihr gerade nicht wissen, wo es weitergeht. - Unterschätzt Atreus nicht
Als erfahrener Spieler bricht man bei der Nachricht, die gesamte Spieldauer hinweg einen NPC an seiner Seite zu haben, nicht unbedingt in Jubelschreien aus - zu tief sitzt der Stachel, den unzählige nervenaufreibende Eskortmissionen im Laufe der Jahre immer tiefer getrieben haben. Atreus ist jedoch eine Ausnahme dieser Videospielregel: Der Knirps weiß sich extrem effektiv zur Wehr zu setzen und wird mit jeder weiteren Stunde eine immer wertvollere Unterstützung im Kampf. Begeht deshalb nicht den Fehler, ihn und speziell seine Ausrüstung zu ignorieren: Genau wie Kratos' Axt und Outfit solltet ihr auch das Equipment sowie die Fähigkeiten seines Sohnemanns regelmäßig verbessern. Nutzt zudem im Kampf mit Viereck Atreus' Pfeilbeschuss, der irgendwann nicht nur ordentlich Schaden austeilt, sondern vor allem die Betäubungsbalken der Feinde füllt. - Im Kampf den Überblick behalten
So roh und wuchtig das von der neuen, nah an Kratos befindlichen Über-der-Schulter-Kamera vermittelte Spielgefühl auch sein mag, so sehr schränkt diese Perspektive eure Übersicht ein. Speziell in Kämpfen, in denen ihr nicht selten von Feinden eingekesselt werdet, wird das schnell problematisch. Achtet daher stets auf die Pfeile um Kratos' Hüfte, da sie euch anzeigen, aus welcher Richtung Gefahr droht. Weiße bis gelbe Pfeile signalisieren lediglich, dass in der entsprechenden Richtung ein Gegner lauert. Färben sich die Markierungen hingegen rötlich, steht ein gegnerischer Angriff unmittelbar bevor - weicht also sofort aus! Mit Steuerkreuz unten könnt ihr zudem eine blitzschnelle 180-Grad-Drehung ausführen. Es dauert zugegebenermaßen etwas, bis dieses Manöver in Fleisch und Blut übergeht. Habt ihr euch jedoch erst einmal daran gewöhnt, werdet ihr es nicht mehr missen wollen. - Habt immer einen Auferstehungsstein im Gepäck
Während der Hauptmission "Der Weg zum Berg" lernt ihr Sindri kennen, Broks eher zurückhaltenden Bruder und seines Zeichens einer der besten Schmiede Midgards. Sobald ihr ihm die Hand geschüttelt habt, könnt ihr sogenannte Auferstehungssteine in seinem Laden und dem seines blauhäutigen Bruders kaufen (und zwar nur dort). Diese erlauben es Atreus, Kratos wiederzubeleben, sollte der mal zu Boden gehen. Sollte es so weit kommen (und glaubt uns, das wird es), habt ihr ein kurzes Zeitfenster, in dem ihr eurem Sohnemann mit einem Druck auf Viereck den entsprechenden Befehl erteilen könnt. Denkt jedoch daran, dass der Auferstehungsstein damit verbraucht wird. Da ihr immer nur einen im Gepäck haben könnt, müsst ihr euren Vorrat also danach unweigerlich wieder aufstocken.
